If your Instagram feed has been flooded with slow-motion clips of donuts oozing pastel-coloured cream, you already know Abebe Bakery. The cult Korean chain — which started as a humble stall in Jeju’s Dongmun Market back in 2018 and grew into one of Korea’s biggest donut specialists, has finally opened its first Hong Kong shop in Tsim Sha Tsui. Soft opening started 13 September 2026 at Shop W, G/F, 37 Mody Road — a short walk from K11 Art Mall and East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit P3. Cue city-wide sugar hysteria.
What makes these different from your average donut? Two things: the sheer volume of cream (each one is palm-sized but weighs like a small brick), and the Jeju-inspired flavours you won’t find anywhere else in town. Their cream buns are also stuffed with glutinous rice cake, so there’s a lovely chewy-meets-pillowy thing happening that kids go wild for.
What To Order
Pro tips: order fewer than you think you need. One donut per person is genuinely filling, and they’re best eaten the same day. Check their Instagram Stories before you leave the house — they go live with stock updates, which will save you a very sad trip with a hopeful five-year-old. Go early on weekdays if you want the widest flavour selection, bring an ice pack if you’re not eating immediately (that cream is delicate in Hong Kong humidity), and be prepared to queue on weekends. Consider it part of the experience. Bring wet wipes. Cream fillings leak. The shop is takeaway-only, so plan a bench, a hotel lobby, or the walk to Harbour City.
Use East Tsim Sha Tsui Exit P3 and walk to Shop W, G/F, 37 Mody Road. The shop is takeaway only, so you can grab boxes and keep moving toward K11 or the harbor without needing a table or high chair.
Yes, if you cut pieces small and watch the filling. Cream and glutinous rice cake can be messy and slightly chewy, so stay with younger children, pack wipes, and skip whole doughnuts for kids who still pocket food.
Abebe is giving away one doughnut per person from 4pm-6pm on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, while stocks last. Arrive early with the family; the window is short and popular flavors go first.
Weekday openings at 11am are calmer than Saturday afternoons. Everything is baked daily and sold until gone, so late evening visits risk empty trays, especially for dirty chocolate and matcha.
Plan from HK$38 per cream doughnut and HK$42 per cream bun. Two doughnuts and one bun plus a drink usually covers two kids and one parent without turning the stop into a full dessert bill.
We love a treat that feels special without a two-hour sit-down. Abebe gives families a shareable, photogenic bite that still fits between playgrounds and the MTR.
