News flash Singapore! Have you heard the news? The old dis-used Singapore railway is to become a beautiful 15 mile stretch of parkland. Along it will be mix-use-trails and a park system from beginning to end.
The park will cover coast-to-coast, north to south, and this master plan features over 100 access points and 20 modular platforms for various uses, laced together with contiguous bicycle and pedestrian paths.
There will be eight main ‘nodes’ connecting the path together. Some nodes will be dedicated to nature-oriented activities, including secluded boardwalks and rainforest viewing stations. Other nodes will be community-oriented, with outdoor movie projectors, climbing walls, information stations, food vendors and additional activity centers. In some cases, former train stations will be incorporated into this rails-to-trails redevelopment plan.
So get ready Singapore, this public space will preserve and reintegrate green and vibrant areas within our residential life. The park will be memorable, eco-friendly and most importantly help bond the local community.
A stunning piece of land your family will enjoy. Test out different parts of the trail each weekend.
Park lovers, walkers, runners, yogi’s, families who love to spend time together outdoors.
It’s not opening for a while, so make sure you enjoy many of the other parks on the island!
