At Australian International School (AIS), learning extends beyond the classroom through experiences that connect students with the wider community. The Heritage in Harmony project, for example, brings together history, the arts and community partnerships, giving students opportunities to explore their surroundings through hands-on, real-world learning.

The Scoop – What To Expect:
- Learning Beyond the Classroom: At AIS, students are given authentic opportunities to engage with real-world projects that bring subjects to life and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Through the Heritage in Harmony project, AIS students researched, interpreted and performed songs from the Changi Souvenir Song Album, preserving an important piece of history while developing their musical skills and historical understanding.
- Digging out Human Stories: Students build confidence, critical thinking, collaboration and communication skills through meaningful experiences that connect classroom learning with the wider community. Heritage in Harmony encouraged students to explore themes of resilience, hope, friendship and perseverance to develop a deeper appreciation of the human stories behind historical events.
- Engaging Audiences: Students performed for an audience that included members of the Australian and Singaporean communities, demonstrating their talents while contributing to the preservation of cultural heritage.
What curriculum does the Australian International School offer?
AIS offers the IB Primary Years Programme from Preschool to Year 5, an Australian Curriculum-based programme in Years 6–8, Cambridge IGCSE in Years 9–10, and a choice of the IB Diploma Programme or NSW Higher School Certificate in Years 11–12.
Are there any outdoor education opportunities?
AIS has a progressive Outdoor Education programme from Prep to Year 11, beginning with exploratory day trips and developing into overnight camps and longer expeditions. Students can build skills including navigation, survival, teamwork, leadership and resilience through these experiences.
What activities are available beyond the classroom at AIS?
AIS offers more than 300 co-curricular activities, ranging from robotics, coding, cooking and historical wargaming to surfing, rock climbing, golf and horse riding. Students can also take part in Model United Nations, Duke of Edinburgh, performing arts, competitive sport and community projects. Older students can take part in the Cambodia House Building Project, combining fundraising, travel and practical community work.
What is AIS’s Positive Education philosophy?
The Positive Education programme draws on positive psychology and focuses on helping students develop strengths such as resilience, optimism, gratitude and a sense of purpose, alongside the skills and confidence they need to navigate challenges.
