Singapore parents are right to ask what “AI in school” looks like at the dining table. The short answer: not an open ChatGPT tab for an eight-year-old. MOE’s plan is age-by-age, so children learn what AI is, where it helps, where it fails, and how to keep their own judgement. MOE'S Age-By-Age AI Plan For Students in Singapore:
- P1–P3: Lower primary students stay social and hands-on with their AI learning journey. P1 to P3 are taught that AI already sits inside maps, videos, and toys, but schools will not set work that requires a chatbot.
- P4: From Primary 4, teachers may use MOE-built tools inside the Student Learning Space - after a short safety module, and only in class. Cyber Wellness lessons add a practical check: do not believe every AI sentence, and learn how a deepfake is made.
- Upper Primary: Code for Fun is already mandatory in upper primary and is currently being refreshed so every school can strengthen AI skills by 2027.
- After Secondary, And For Working Parents: From AY2027, all IHL freshmen get a compulsory baseline AI module. Current students get extras inside existing courses. From H2 2026, alumni can take selected IHL AI courses at a one-year discount. mySkillsFuture lists about 1,600 AI courses and a self-check tool (built with SIT) that suggests the next class.
