Whenever the Dragon Boat Festival or Chinese Dumpling Festival comes around annually, the Chinese community will get busy making glutinous rice dumplings. Locally known as bak chang, zhang, or zongzi, this sticky, delicious, rice parcel is filled with ingredients such as pork, mushroom, dried shrimps, salted egg york, chestnut, green beans and more, and wrapped in bamboo or lotus leaves. Making this delicious treat at home might be cumbersome for most city dwellers, but thankfully, they can easily be found across the Klang Valley.
