ESF Applications For K1 – Years 1 & 7

Students joining K1 from August 2020 will be guaranteed a place at an ESF primary and then secondary school without the need for further interviews, if they can benefit from mainstream education.

Students will go through the system seamlessly, thanks to the fact that we have adopted the International Baccalaureate (IB) at every level – from kindergarten to secondary.

The IB has been designed specifically to meet the needs of learners from any cultural background. It is a system based on encouraging students to solve problems, analyze complex issues and to work with their peers. The final qualification, the IB Diploma, is accepted by universities across the world.

For parents wishing their children to enter K1, Years 1 and 7, central application for 2020/21 will start this September. For those who are interested to join K1 (born 2017) or Year 1 (born 2015), they should apply between September 1- 30. For Year 7 (born 2009), the application period will be from September 1 - 23.

If you are planning to enter other year groups, the application can be made at any time during the year. Please refer to the ESF website for immediate vacancies. School zoning applies to ESF primary and secondary schools based on a residential address at the time of application. The five ESF International Kindergartens, Discovery College and Renaissance College remain zone free.

All applications are submitted online on the ESF website.

For those who wish to gain interview priority can apply for ESF Nomination Rights (NR). The schemes provide a fast track entry route for children into ESF schools given that they meet the admissions requirements. The scheme will be open for applications on Monday, September 3 at ESF Centre in Quarry Bay for those who are applying for Years 1 or 7 for the 2020/21 academic year.
