    • July 26, 2024 at 11:30pm: Opening Ceremony
      • For the first time in the history of the Summer Olympics, the Opening Ceremony will take place outside the traditional stadium setting. Paris 2024 is reimagining how the games interact with the city, and this innovative approach extends to the Opening Ceremony, which will unfold along the city's iconic Seine River. In an unprecedented move, the athlete's parade will transform into a dynamic river procession. Each national delegation will be aboard its own boat, complete with onboard cameras to provide television and online audiences with a close-up view of the athletes. This flotilla will navigate a 6-kilometer route from east to west through the heart of Paris. As the 10,500 athletes sail through the city, they will showcase their skills against the backdrop of Paris's stunning urban landscape, setting the stage for the 16 days of competition to follow. The procession will culminate at the Trocadéro, where the Olympic protocol will conclude with final ceremonious displays and shows. It is estimated that 1 billion viewers worldwide will tune in to watch the live show.
