The Hong Kong Pop Culture Festival gathers an array of experiences that showcase the distinctive pop culture of the 852. From pop concerts and performances to film screenings and thematic exhibitions, this mega-event has it all! Encounter the Hong Kong blend of East-meets-West injected with new elements and perspectives. The festival runs from March 29 to November 18, 2023. Venues and timings vary, as do the prices, but some programs offer free admission.
Check out some of the highlights:
- ‘Out of Thin Air: Hong Kong Film Arts & Costumes Exhibition‘ displays the iconic costumes, drawing manuscripts, and more from behind the scenes of Hong Kong films
- ‘Cinderella and Her Qipao Exhibition‘ covers the cultural landscapes of the past through elegant Qipaos worn in various eras, and has free admission!
- ‘Summer Vibes‘ is a concert on July 7 that features music from jazz to Cantopop performed by budding young bands to seasoned performers, also with free admission, although there is a required pre-registration.
- ‘Revisiting the Glory Days—The Legacy of Leslie and Anita‘ is a film screening of numerous films spanning from the 1980s to the 21st century, and seems to be in high demand!
- ‘Culture Café‘, an outreach activity, will be hosted by veteran music culturists Wong Chi-Chung and Clarence Chang, and will explore tunes from different periods
