Dive into a groundbreaking exploration of marine biodiversity like never before at the revolutionary exhibition known as BLUTOPIA. Presented by AIRSIDE, this immersive showcase redefines the traditional aquarium experience by combining art, science, technology, and education. Developed in collaboration with A.L.A.N (Artists Who Love Animals and Nature), a local non-profit organization, BLUTOPIA brings together twelve creative units from around the world to create a multisensory journey through marine ecology.
BLUTOPIA consists of two distinct parts: a captivating multimedia exhibition taking place at the GATE33 Gallery and an educational venue located at L216. At the GATE33 Gallery, visitors embark on a captivating voyage through various ocean zones, each characterized by different levels of sunlight penetration. The journey begins in the vibrant “Sunlight Zone,” where the exhibition showcases the stunning beauty and vitality of marine life. As you continue your journey, you transition into the mysterious “Twilight Zone,” where you encounter captivating creatures that thrive in the deepening shadows. The expedition culminates in an awe-inspiring exploration of the “Deep Ocean,” a realm shrouded in darkness and mystery.
BLUTOPIA boasts an array of mesmerizing artworks that push the boundaries of innovation and creativity. One mustn’t miss “SYMPHILIA,” an extraordinary coral reef installation by Indonesian artist Mulyana. This large-scale masterpiece blends Mixed Reality (MR) with the delicate art of Crochet, illustrating the interconnectedness and symbiotic relationships found within the ocean. Another marvel is the interactive light installation aptly named “COLOURFUL JELLIES.” This colossal exhibit replicates the enchanting bioluminescent display of jellyfish, illuminating the surroundings as visitors approach. Additionally, German artist Philipp Artus presents “AQUATICS,” an immersive and interactive installation that encourages visitors to unleash their creativity by crafting entirely new species of deep-sea creatures. The exhibition also features “SONG FROM THE DEEP,” a grand sound installation by local composer Daniel Lo and sound designer Lawrence Lau, along with “BLUTOPIA,” a captivating work by digital visual artist Desmond Lo, infused with Cyberpunk aesthetics.
Located within L216, the “HIDDEN” exhibition unveils the enigmatic and captivating aspects of underwater life. Here, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the pulsating lights and shadows brought to life through digital art. This experience offers a unique opportunity to witness the beauty, diversity, and fragility of marine ecology, inspiring a deeper appreciation for and commitment to the protection of the world’s oceans.
To gain access to this extraordinary showcase, visitors can register for free admission on NF Touch, an online platform dedicated to promoting artistic experiences. However, due to limited capacity, a limited number of spots are available for on-site registration until the venue reaches full capacity. Don’t miss your chance to embark on an unforgettable journey into the depths of BLUTOPIA, an exhibition that intertwines art, science, and education to enlighten and entertain audiences like never before.
