Adhering to a traditional 45-day ageing process that sees Morty’s beef cured for more than 20 days at a controlled temperature, set to cook for another 24 hours, and smoked to a sweet perfection using American hickory and cherry wood chips before it is cooled and steamed to revive its natural juices, a sandwich at Morty’s is one not to be missed.
Highlights include the Rueben with slow smoked pastrami, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut, or the Classic Pastrami with hand-cut lean, medium or fatty beef brisket, while specialties such as the Smoked Truffle Chicken with grilled shitake mushroom, tomato, arugula and truffle mayonnaise, or the Bagel & House Lox with chive and dill cream cheese, cold smoked Atlantic salmon, tomato and red onion will have you coming back again and again, not to mention the range of poutines with fries, cheddar cheese and homemade gravy, and the option to add chopped pastrami or chilli and house-smoked meats. Those looking for something lighter can enjoy a salad.
Breads which include rye, white and wheat, as well as baguettes and ciabattas, are baked fresh every morning. Sauces are gluten-free and dairy-free and are made in-house.
