Journey Into Pokémon Bliss At Noto Satoyama Airport

Explore Japan's First Pokémon-Themed Airport In Ishikawa

Japan is about to get a very exciting new family travel spot: the world’s first Pokémon-themed airport. Noto Satoyama Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture will reopen as the “Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport,” giving visitors a fun, character-filled gateway to one of Japan’s most scenic regions. The themed airport is set to run from July 7, 2026, through September 2029.

Families can expect a playful welcome, with Pokémon decorations, special photo moments, and themed food to make the trip feel like part of the holiday rather than just the start of it. It’s a lovely idea for kids who love Pokémon, but it also gives parents a fresh reason to explore a part of Japan that is often overlooked by first-time visitors.

Highlights of the Pokémon Airport

  • Pokémon Everywhere! The airport is decked out in creative Pokémon-themed décor, from a giant Pikachu and flying Pokémon in the airy open spaces to custom signage featuring your favorite characters. Keep an eye out for 111 flying-type Pokémon hidden throughout the airport and interactive art like the heartwarming Akari no Mirai installation in the arrivals lobby.
  • Unique Experiences: Stop by the “Pikachu Satoyama” Observation Deck, where swarms of Pikachus and other Pokémon come to life in fun displays. Families can also enjoy short animated Pokémon stories that bring the airport’s theme to life—don’t miss Fly! Bagon, the story of a Pokémon chasing its dream of taking flight.
  • Pokémon-Themed Dining & Shopping: Head to the Annon Restaurant on the 3rd floor for exclusive Pokémon-inspired pancakes and drinks. Purchase souvenirs at the shop on the second floor, Serendipity, offering Pokémon-branded T-shirts, keychains, luggage tags, and more—exclusive to this airport!
  • Adventure Beyond the Airport: From mid-July, Pokémon-themed buses will connect the airport to key locations across Ishikawa, including Nanao’s Wakura Pokémon Foot Spa and the Sylveon “With Love” Monument in Suzu City, letting you explore Pokémon destinations while touring the stunning Noto Peninsula.

Ishikawa is a great destination in its own right, with a mix of coastal scenery, hot springs, and traditional Japanese culture. Nearby highlights include the Noto Peninsula, Wakura Onsen, and Kanazawa, where families can visit Kenrokuen Garden, wander the historic Higashi Chaya District, and sample local treats at Omicho Market.

Getting there from Hong Kong is possible, though not usually through the Pokémon airport itself. A convenient option is to fly from Hong Kong to Komatsu Airport in Ishikawa, which has a direct Hong Kong route, then continue by road or train toward the Noto area; other common entry points into the region include Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Tsuruga.

For families planning a Japan trip with a little extra magic, this is one airport that could easily become part of the adventure.
