Southern China’s largest comprehensive natural history museum is now open! The Shenzhen Natural History Museum welcomed visitors starting July 28, 2026, and it is already a hit with families. Covering 105,300 square meters (with about 35,200 square meters of exhibition space) in Pingshan’s Yanzi Lake area, the striking “river delta” design blends five flowing conical forms with the surrounding mountains, rivers, and wetlands.
Journey from the vast cosmos through Earth’s 4.6-billion-year story, dinosaurs, human evolution, and rich ecosystems before returning home to Shenzhen’s own mountains and seas across eight immersive halls packed with 7,461 real specimens, models, and interactive exhibits. Kids (and parents) will especially love the giant dinosaur skeletons, hands-on science moments, and the rooftop plant garden walkway that connects straight into nearby parks.
