5 Board Games For Active Families

Are you looking for something fun and active to do with the family while stuck at home? Don’t worry, Little Steps has got you covered. We have rounded up 5 active board games that will get you up out of your seat, having fun and moving in no time!

Yoga Spinner is a fun and interactive way to learn yoga moves, while also practicing your balance and increasing your flexibility! To play, spin the spinner, select the corresponding colored card from the deck, perform the yoga pose, and hold it for at least 10 seconds! With over 54 different pose cards, you will be sure to know your down dog from your savasana! To win, collect a card in each different color. Suitable for 2 or more players, ages 5 and above.

Cat In The Hat - I Can Do That centers around something called a Trick-a-ma-stick (which is a foam arch) and each turn you pick up three playing cards that tell you 1) what action you need to do, 2) with what object (included with the game) and 3) where you need to put the object. Eg. walk around the Trick-a-ma-stick backward, with the cake object, on your head. It’s not only funny doing silly moves around the house, but it is a great way to get young kids to read. Suitable for 2 or more players, ages 4 and above.

Boochie is similar to the Italian lawn bowls game of bocce, in that the aim is to toss your ball (and hoop) as close as possible to the large orange “boochie” ball. Each side of the boochie ball has different points, so it’s not just the closest wins! Each player needs to wear a wrist tracker (which acts as an individual game board), which not only keeps score but also adds to the difficulty of the game by giving potential roadblocks each turn, eg. throw the ball with the other hand. Suitable for 2-4 players, ages 8 and above.

The Wimpy Kid 10 Second Challenge is exactly as the name suggests, you need to complete challenges (as specified on the game cards) in 10 seconds to move around the board. The winner is the first to move around the board and reach the end. Challenges are either physical (such as jumping over a book backward and forward 4 times without touching the book), or mental (such as name 8 kids cartoons). Remember everything has to be done in 10 seconds or you move backward on the board. Suitable for 2-6 players, ages 8 and above.

Angelina Ballerina Dance With Me is for those aspiring ballet dancers in the family! Move your character along the board picking up dance card moves along the way, which you then need to replicate! The cards teach the correct name and pose, so you will learn the difference between a plie and an arabesque in no time! Be the first to move to the end of the board, learn 6 dance poses, and then perform the entire routine from memory to music! Suitable for 1 or more players, ages 3 and above.
