Grab your most comfortable walking shoes, sunblock, loads of water, and of course, the kids, and embark on the newest self-guided tour around the Katong Joo Chiat district! This trail is about revitalizing Katong Joo Chiat, Singapore’s first and only heritage town. Aside from just showcasing the Peranakan culture, it will also feature how Katong Joo Chiat is a ‘Little Singapore’. There will be new murals around the area painted specially for this art circuit, each telling a story about the history of Katong Joo Chiat. The circuit offers 2 routes: a short route and long route. Both routes are easy to maneuver, with the Art circuit map site that guides you through location pins on Google map – even the kids will be able to navigate! The long route features just 5 more stops, so if you’re all set for a day out, go for it! Marvel at the pre-war Peranakan architecture and also newly painted murals alongside the shophouses. Want more? Check out the various eateries and shops along the way! Simply flash your KJC Circuit map to enjoy food and shopping privileges. Nice!
A perfect trail to introduce the kids to Peranakan culture and the arts in Eastside Singapore...something different from the usual museum exhibitions and indoor activities!
Those looking for a cultured and artsy day out, coupled with great insta-worthy moments and not forgetting good food!
There are also workshops and activities at selected locations along the route, like beading workshops, art sessions, and even a tea tasting workshop.
