If the sound of birds chirping and being surrounded by trees is what you want to experience, head over to the Southern Ridges and Nature Trail! Spanning 10km, the trail connects to some prominent areas in Singapore like Mount Faber Park and HortPark and is a popular route for hiking enthusiasts and families on weekends. One highlight of the trail is definitely the Henderson Waves near Telok Blangah – a bridge for pedestrians 36 meters above ground with eye-pleasing aesthetics and even a light show every evening from 7pm. It’s no wonder that it’s a popular spot for joggers, photographers, and couples going on romantic walks. For history buffs, stop by Reflections at Bukit Chandu after the Southern Ridges Canopy Walk. The small museum there is within a colonial building which will transport you to the past temporarily, and you can visit a monument there that represents the Battle of Pasir Panjang as a quick and brief history lesson. With 5 different entrances varying from West Coast Park to Harbourfront MRT Station, you’ll be able to conveniently access Southern Ridges and Nature trail and start your adventure from anywhere you prefer. If you want to speed through the entire journey, you can actually complete the trail in 2.5 hours. But to really enjoy the experience, 3 to 5 hours is recommended!
Having a mix of lush greenery and modern architecture, the Southern Ridges is truly one of Singapore’s most scenic and breathtaking spots!
Explorers who not only want to see nature but also visit photography spots and learn a bit more about Singapore’s history and culture.
Do note that the trail is only on foot. Cycling, skating or rollerblading are not allowed!
