Get into the festive spirit this December as Christmas Wonderland, Singapore’s biggest yuletide event, returns to Gardens by the Bay for its ninth edition. The annual event has attracted close to five million visitors since it began in 2014. From 2 December 2, 2022, to January 1, 2023, this year’s event will feature six different festive zones with more attractions that will delight visitors of all ages at the most wonderful time of the year!
There is much to enjoy at St Nick’s Square, Gingerbread Grove, Merry Lane, ELFresco, Mistletoe Alley, and Games Village. Marvel at light displays in all-new designs, take a photo with Santa, dine on festive treats, have a go at carnival games, hop onto a double-storey carousel, experience ‘snow’ in the tropics, shop for gifts, enjoy the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show, and more!
Located at the heart of Christmas Wonderland, St. Nick’s Square is the event’s largest activity zone. The crown jewel is the stunning Spalliera, intricately hand-crafted by Italian artisans and features 103,000 LED bulbs. The luminarie stands majestically at 21 meters – the height of five double-decker buses. Just around the corner is Santa, who is standing by to greet visitors before he heads off to deliver presents around the world. A wondrous ride awaits onboard the Venetian Double-Storey Carousel, as a festive edition of the Garden Rhapsody light and sound show at the Supertrees keeps visitors spellbound.
Over at Gingerbread Grove, marvel at the 10-meter-tall Whimsical Windmill, a brand-new kinetic light display set in a field of 250 candy canes lit by more than 35,000 bulbs. The highly popular Walk of Lights has been upgraded, with 50,000 programmable LED lights illuminating a myriad of colors along a 50-meter-long tunnel.
You can look forward to experiencing ‘winter’ in the tropics this year at Merry Lane’s Snowland. The attraction will feature an illuminated igloo, polar bears, and fluffy white ‘snow’. Within the vicinity will also be a series of brand-new light displays influenced by the themes of Christmas, such as the Jolly Express, Poinsettia Castle, and a Gingerbread House promising countless photo opportunities.
Set amidst an array of festive lights and enchanting decorations, Mistletoe Alley features a row of festive huts selling crafts and gifts, making it the perfect stop for Christmas shopping. For a whole lot of fun, head over to the Games Village and have a go at a selection of traditional carnival games such as Fishy Fishy, Ring Toss, Pyramid Smash, High-Striker, and more!
No Yuletide festival is complete without embarking on a tantalizing journey as ELFresco makes a comeback with some of Singapore’s popular food and beverage establishments such as Brewerkz, Burger & Lobster, Hendrick’s, Pita Tree, Sofnade, and more serving up delectable festive bites and tipples. To top off the magical experience, you will be serenaded by daily performances of festive tunes by local artists throughout the event.
