Indonesia Travel Rules 2026 — Guide for Malaysians Visiting Indonesia And Visa Requirements!

Visa-Free Perks, Bali Tourist Tax, And Must-Know Travel Tips

Starting 1 September 2025, travel from Kuala Lumpur to Indonesia is simpler for Malaysian families. Whether you’re headed to Bali’s beaches, Batam’s seafood, Surabaya’s heritage, or Jakarta’s shopping, here’s what you need to know.

Key points to note:

  • Visa-free entry: Malaysians get 30 days visa-free for tourism—no paperwork required.
  • Visa on Arrival (VOA): For longer stays, VOA costs IDR 500,000 (~RM150) and can be extended once (additional 30 days). Apply via the e-VOA portal to skip queues or pay on arrival.
  • Bali Tourist Tax: IDR 150,000 (~RM45) per person—pay online before arrival and keep the QR code.
  • All Indonesia Arrival Card: Mandatory online form—complete before arrival; the QR code is required at airports and seaports.
  • Biometric requirement for VOA extension: Extensions now require in-person biometric data at an immigration office.
  • B211A visa: For remote workers or long stays—valid 60 days and extendable (up to 180 days).

Practical tips

  • For short holidays, the 30-day visa-free entry is usually sufficient.
  • If you plan to stay longer, secure a VOA or apply for a B211A for remote work/extended stays.
  • Complete the All Indonesia Arrival Card and, if applicable, the Bali Tourist Tax payment before departure to speed up immigration.
  • If extending a VOA, book time to visit a local immigration office for biometric enrollment.
