6 Best Outdoor Playgrounds For Kids In KL, Malaysia

Fresh Air Fun In KL

Best outdoor playgrounds for kids in Kuala Lumpur.

Blessed as we are with a climate that lends itself to being outside, drag your little people off the sofa, away from the TV and out to play in the great outdoors. KL has some awesome outdoor playgrounds that the whole family will love and we’ve scoped out some of the best so you can climb, swing and slide to your heart’s content. Just don’t forget the hats, suncream and water bottles.  Here comes the best outdoor playgrounds in KL!

  • PUBLIKA PLAYGROUND

Super cool shopping mall with a super cool outdoor playground, certainly one of the most unique we’ve come across. With large, funky metal stickmen forming the slide, swings and monkey bars, the playground looks more like an art installation than a place for children to burn off some energy. But looks can be deceiving and you only have to watch the excitement on the children’s faces to see that they enjoy playing here as much as the mummies and daddies enjoy it visually.

    KLCC PARK PLAYGROUND

Hugely popular with tourists, expats and locals alike, KLCC Park is always busy. It’s worth a trip though as not only is the setting is stunning, situated as it is in the shadows of the iconic Petronas Towers, but there’s plenty to keep children entertained including a wading pool where kids can cool off. Little tip, avoid public holidays and the weekends as you’ll find yourself mobbed and keeping an eye on the children will prove tricky and stressful.

  • Outdoor Park At Lake Gardens In Kuala Lumpur

    LAKE GARDENS PLAYGROUND

Lake Gardens or The Perdana Botanical Gardens Kuala Lumpur as it is officially known, offers a fantastic range of children-friendly activities. There are two major playgrounds, which can only be described as children’s playground paradises with a brilliant variety of things to climb on, jump off, swing around and slide down. And should the kids get to the point where they’ve had enough, you can take them on a boat ride on the lake for a chage of scene.

  • Outdoor Park At Desa ParkCity In Kuala Lumpur

    DESA PARKCITY PLAYGROUND

The park at the Waterfront in Desa ParkCity is one of my favorite playgrounds, mostly because it’s one of my children’s favorite playgrounds – that and the fact that there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around the playground where you can grab a cup of coffee. The extensive playground equipment is guaranteed to keep little ones, and big ones, occupied for hours. It can get incredibly hot as there is literally zero shade, so best to head there early doors or late afternoon, but don’t forget the mozzie spray.

  • Benbino playground in KL

    BENBINO PLAYGROUND

OK, admittedly this could be considered a bit of a cheat due to its arguable ‘outside’ situation, but we thought this little gem owned by KL super power, The Big Group, was definitely worth a mention. Some may argue it not being outside, not really, but we say it counts. Located on the upper floor of Publika Shopping Gallery is the Benbino café complete with mini playground. By mini we mean it offers a little climbing frame, a little slide and a multi-person swing. The playground is outside, but under cover, which works in everyone’s favor as it means you can visit any time of day. Plus the food in the café is excellent as are the smoothies and the coffees meaning parents can sit back and have a chat while keeping a close eye on the little ones.

  • Outdoor Park At Pusat Sains Negara In Kuala Lumpur

    PUSAT SAINS NEGARA PLAYGROUND

As well as providing an educational experience for children, KL’s science museum is also home to several playgrounds that you’ll find scattered around its extensive grounds. However, the museum is currently undergoing a huge refurbishment and is billed to be open on 31 December 2016. We loved it before, so can’t wait to see it post-facelift.
