There’s always something going on at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre or KLPAC for kids and family. This fully-integrated arts centre plays host to a variety of plays, dramas, musicals, dance and music performances all year round; many of which involve local and international shows geared towards children and families. The centre is housed in a former railway warehouse that’s been beautifully restored with plenty of brick, steel and glass. Inside, you’ll find spacious studios, theatres and an academy that runs acting, music and theatre workshops and courses for kids of all ages.
The Actors Studio Academy runs programmes for tots as young as three, all the way up to 18-year olds, as well as adult-courses. Programmes for kids consist of theatre-based activities that encourage little ones to develop creativity, interaction and self- expression. Courses, sometimes, include the study of traditional instruments such as the gamelan used in the Malay orchestra.
Be sure to combine a show with a stroll around the centre’s leafy grounds and adjoining park and lake.
Courses engage artists with first-hand experiences while shows bring some of the country’s best theatre practitioners onto the stage.
There are two restaurants on site – Samira for Thai fare and Bistro Richard for a casual French experience- for pre and post show dining options.
