Breadline: An App To Fight Food Waste

Connecting Bakeries To Volunteers

Bread-App-Hong-Kong

Daisy Tam is dedicated to improving the Hong Kong food system. An Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University, she is the founder of HK Foodworks, a platform dedicated to discussion about Hong Kong’s food system. But that’s not all. Daisy is currently developing an app that will address the issue of food waste in the city.

The app, Breadline, connects bakeries to volunteers who will collect leftover loaves and redistribute them to charities and those in need. These are loaves that would otherwise be thrown away. Currently, in its early stages, the app already prevents the wastage of more than 1,000 loaves of bread every week.
