This summer, Tai Kwun Contemporary has a special treat for kids and families with the return of its beloved interactive art event, Open the Box 2025: Bloom of Light. Running from July 5 to August 3, 2025, this second edition follows the huge success of Open the Box: Home Sweet Home, a crowd favorite where children were invited to create their own homes.
Led by celebrated Japanese artist Shinji Ohmaki and part of his renowned Echoes Infinity series, Bloom of Light transforms the gallery space into a vibrant, collaborative canvas. Unlike traditional exhibitions, this event flips the script: visitors become the artists, crafting luminous floral motifs that bloom across the gallery walls.
Visitors of all ages are encouraged to join in and contribute their own creative expressions. As each participant adds their floral design, the space evolves into a living tapestry, a reflection of memory, identity, and shared human light.
It’s a rare opportunity for kids and adults to not only view art but become part of it, shaping the future of museum experiences through hands-on participation.
Whether you’re a budding artist, a curious child, or simply looking for a meaningful way to enjoy the summer, Open the Box 2025: Bloom of Light promises a joyful journey filled with color, creativity, and connection.
