A New Restaurant Kids Will Love In Wan Chai
RAF by Roucou is Hong Kong’s first dedicated Pinza bar, and it’s already open in soft-opening mode on Wan Chai’s Star Street ahead of its grand opening on Sunday, September 20, 2026. If your family would rather share plates than sit through a formal meal, this one’s easy: order a few elongated, 48- to 72-hour cold-fermented Pinza Romana, watch cheese get grated at the table, and round out lunch with a smaller Pinza, a salad or fries, and a drink. RAF takes its name from râpe à fromage, French for cheese grater, and it comes from the team behind Roucou, the French-Japanese cheese bar and omakase on Aberdeen Street in Central. The concept is “Just Taste, Taken Personally”: share a few Pinza, choose a monthly cheese finish, and keep the focus on dough and toppings rather than a drawn-out tasting menu. The elongated Roman-style flatbread is hand-pressed from wheat, rice, and soy flours with natural sourdough. That long ferment is why the crust comes out crisp outside and cloud-like inside, and why plenty of parents find it sits better than a heavy pizza night.
Six regular Pinza are built for sharing. RAF Margherita is HK$128 with tomato, mozzarella, and basil. Truffle and mushroom, yuzu chicken avocado, and double pepperoni with hot honey are HK$138. Umami bleu with anchovies and pistacchio mortadella with stracciatella are HK$148. The safest bets for younger eaters are the Margherita, the yuzu chicken avocado, and the fried RAF Edition FAMIMA chicken at HK$68 for two pieces. AVO Bomb bites are HK$58 for five pieces with a house dip.
