Johor Bahru is rolling out a free shuttle bus service in early 2026 to make it simpler and more enjoyable for visitors to explore the city’s top attractions without worrying about transport costs or parking. Launched as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026 and Visit Johor 2026 campaigns, the service operates daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. along a fixed route covering eight major stops that put iconic landmarks within easy reach.
The shuttle will link essential tourism hubs such as the Johor Tourist Information Centre (JOTIC), the historical 0 km Landmark marking the start of Peninsular Malaysia, the Komtar JBCC shopping destination, Galeria Kotaraya, the majestic Sultan Ibrahim Building, the cultural Sultan Abu Bakar Heritage Complex, Johor Zoo, and Kota Jail, a former prison turned a popular historic site.
Three buses — each seating about 20 passengers — will kick off the service, with plans to expand the fleet as demand grows. Stops are strategically located so visitors can walk to nearby sights, eateries and shopping spots from each point.
This free transport option aims to enhance the visitor experience by reducing reliance on taxis and private vehicles, helping tourists save on travel costs while encouraging longer stays and broader exploration of Johor Bahru’s vibrant cultural and historical offerings.
