Guide To Keong Saik Road Chinatown, Singapore

Bars + Restaurants For Family & Fun

This is one of the hottest neighborhoods in Singapore. Formerly a less than gentrified area, it is now the place to be seen. With hip bars and restaurants, co-working spaces, trendy boutiques and the old world charm of Singapore, this is a secret enclave you need to go and explore. Come here on the weekends when the vibe is high and the street is buzzing. Here’s some of our favorite bars and restaurants on Keong Saik Road.

  • Come here for delicious Caribbean food, from jerk chicken, baby back ribs or a burger so spicy it will leave you wanting more. This four story shop house serves Caribbean dishes, from slipper lobster cocktail and Caribbean fish cakes to baby back ribs and the famous Jamaican jerk chicken. Head upstairs to their cocktail bar and sample one of their potent rum punches.

  • The cufflink club is a stunning bar that serves up bespoke cocktails like you’ve never seen before. Drinks in test-tubes, tankards and even a plastic red cup! Cocktails are creative, unique and quite delicious. They’re a little pricey so come on pay day. Inspiration for each drink is taken from pop culture, literature and nostalgia. This is hands down one of the best cocktail bars in Singapore.

  • This is the place to come for good, old-fashioned French food served country-style. As soon as you walk in you feel like you’re in Lyon on a street-side brasserie. Food is honest, wholesome and quite simply delicious. Order boeuf bourguignon, French onion soup and a tarte for dessert. They will often do a set menu for special occasions so make sure you check them out for all of the big holidays.

    Taratata Bistrot, 35A Keong Saik Road, 089142, +65 6221 4506, http://taratata.sg/

  • Do you have the password? You can’t come in without it! Hidden behind an unassuming door, is a dark bar with a cool vibe. Fancy a cocktail in a bathtub, or something warming and strong? Head on in, get a seat at the bar, and ask one of the nice young men to create something for you. Want them mix away, have fun, and create something delicious and fabulous. Our tip, have dinner at the Study next door, they will give you the password.

  • This is a modern, urban Japanese restaurant with a chilled out vibe. Casual, with an underground vibe, you’ll find good honest street food. The menu is simple yet substantial. The confit duck leg and the smoked baby back ribs are to die for. Make sure you leave room for the bonsai dessert, we’ll leave it up to you to discover what’s in it.

The menu is extensive, pick from snacks, soil, sea and land. We like the beetroot pickled, with whipped truffle burrata, raspberries, and smoked walnuts, and also the Iberico pork & foie gras burgers, pulled pork, with tartar sauce, yum!

  • This Australian inspired resto is a must do if you like the food in Sydney. This all day dining venue has got you covered for Sunday brunch, lunch with the girls, date night cocktails and even coffee and a catch up with clients. Try the Bondi breakfast if you’re feeling hungry or the Luxe bowl if you’re on a bit of a health kick. Wash it all down with a creamy flat white and watch the world go by.
