Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Singapore, but it’s also one of the most treatable when caught early. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month – the perfect time to learn more about early detection, screening options, and how to support awareness campaigns happening across the island. This guide breaks it all down in a clear,easy-to-read way.
| Age Group | How Often | Where To Go | Subsidy Info |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40–49 years | Yearly (if higher risk, consult a doctor) | Polyclinics, hospitals, private clinics | Partially subsidised under Screen for Life |
| 50+ years | Every 2 years | Polyclinics, hospitals, Mammobus (mobile screening) | Subsidised mammograms available islandwide |
Breast cancer affects women of all ages, and the number of cases has been rising in Singapore. The good news? More women are catching it early, and survival rates are higher than ever thanks to better screening and treatment. Regular checks and knowing what’s normal for your body make a big difference.
Who Should Get Screened?
Where To Get Screened:
You can book mammograms at polyclinics, hospitals, and private clinics, or hop on the Community Mammobus that travels to heartland areas.
Why It’s Important:
Mammograms can detect breast cancer before any symptoms show, giving you more treatment options and better outcomes.
