Stretch those legs little ones…and get moving with a paddle boat adventure at Wong Nai Chung Reservoir Park! Hidden away on Tai Tam Road near Parkview, it’s hard to believe this tranquil park with its lush green hills and wooded shoreline is a 20-minute taxi ride from Central. Built in 1889 as an active water source, Wong Nai Chung Reservoir was converted in 1986 into the peaceful place it is today – full of wildlife and interesting nooks and crannies to explore with your boat.
Two-person or four-person paddle boats are available to rent by the hour. The ride is fun and easy and kids 6+ should be tall enough to reach the pedals to make a go of it alone. Younger kids can still participate by helping out with the steering. On any given day, you’ll see turtles sunning on the rocks, butterflies floating by, and egrets fishing in the waters. The biggest draw here for young kids is throwing bread in the reservoir, and watching groups of fish dive and splash about for a bite!
After an hour or so out on the water, you’ll be hungry too! Take a break at the pleasant refreshment stand overlooking the reservoir for basic snacks like noodles, hot dogs, chips and ice cream.
Convening with nature…only 20 minutes from the city!
Wildlife wanderers and families looking for a unique, hassle-free escape from the daily grind.
The reservoir is packed with large and hungry koi, so make sure to bring bread or pick up an $8 loaf at the park entrance. Adult and child-sized life vests are available to borrow for free!
Open daily from 9am - 7pm
