Ready, Set, Go! The HLG Kart Race Returns To Discovery Bay This November 2026

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 21, 2026 — the HLG Kart Race is back in Discovery Bay for its 11th edition! This much-loved annual community fundraiser features an exciting race down a ramp set up on the Discovery Bay Road cycle lane, specially designed for children aged 7–12. The event is made possible through the support of Harvey Law Group (HLG) and Milwaukee, with HLG sponsoring and building karts for the race, alongside participants who construct their own karts.

Launched in 2015 with just over 20 racers, the event has become one of Discovery Bay’s most anticipated days out. The 10th anniversary edition in November 2025 drew more than 100 young competitors across 320 races and six categories — and a free 2025 photo gallery is still available to download on the official race website.

HLG manages the event with dedicated staff on the ground, while the races are coordinated by a team of passionate volunteers. Safety measures are in place: the race area is sealed off from the main road with barriers, a First Aid Station is set up along the route, and all participants must bring and wear their own helmets and trainers.

Proceeds go to the Heep Hong Society, a charity providing training and education to children of all abilities, including those with autism and dyslexia. Any surplus after costs goes straight to supporting their work.

What is the HLG Kart Race in Discovery Bay?

Is it safe for my child to race?

Safety is built into race day. Barriers close the course from the road, a first-aid station sits along the route, and every racer must wear their own fitted bike helmet and trainers. Gloves and long trousers are recommended. Officials check karts throughout the morning.

How old does my child need to be to take part?

Racers must be 7–12 on race day and compete in their own age group. Timeslots run through the morning and early afternoon so younger and older kids are not mixed on the ramp. Younger siblings can usually come along to cheer.

Do we need to build our own kart?

No. The registration fee includes an HLG-supplied push kart with no engine or pedals. Build your own and the fee is waived, but homemade karts must meet the rules, including brakes and axle spacing. Most families use the provided karts.

Where does the money go, and how do we sign up?
