The Scoop – What to Expect:

• Inspiring teaching sparks curiosity: Students are encouraged to question ideas, debate, solve problems and develop their own arguments rather than simply memorise facts. The approach continues beyond normal lessons through subject societies, academic lectures, seminars and independent research, giving students opportunities to explore subjects that genuinely interest them.
• Every student truly matters: Students have a Personal Tutor who supports them academically, socially and emotionally and acts as an important link between home and school. The House System also gives every student a consistent community throughout their time at NLCS, with four Houses, regular House activities and, in the Senior School, opportunities for older students to mentor younger pupils.
• Wellbeing supports students to flourish: Pastoral care is built into everyday school life through tutor check-ins, weekly Personal and Social Education (PSE) lessons and Positive Education. Students can also access emotional guidance counsellors, learning-support professionals and an on-site Health Centre, with PSE covering areas including health and wellbeing, relationships and living in the wider world.
• Purpose through service and leadership: Students can get involved in service through societies such as DepotAid, which organises fundraising and community outreach; Eldercare Society, which works with local NGOs to support older people; ChildReach Service Society, which supports children locally and internationally; and LifeLine Society, which raises awareness and funds for refugees and children affected by conflict. Students can also develop leadership and teamwork through the House System, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award and other enrichment programmes.
