In just a blink of an eye, the wonderful celebration of the Mid-Autumn season is alive again to create fond memories for all. As Mid-Autumn Festival is also the Moon Festival, its legends are usually related to the moon. This festival is believed to have originated from the ancient ceremony of Sacrificing to the Moon Goddess for the year’s end harvest. This is when families return to celebrate and give thanks for the year’s bounty. Offerings of their harvest such as apples, pears, peaches, grapes, pomegranates, melons, oranges and pomelos were common.
To preserve the tradition, craft activities are some of the new-age things to do to let the kiddos immerse themselves in Chinese culture the fun way! These are some of the activities that you can participate at Clay For Fun’s craft class in conjunction with Mid-Autumn Festival so the children can learn more about the Mid-Autumn legends, observances, crafts – and of course the yummy delicacies!
