The Mid-Autumn Festival is soon upon us, and when you’re not busy lighting up lanterns or gorging on delicious mooncakes, there are numerous other interesting activities you can check out. Lanterns are practically synonymous with the Mid-Autumn Festival, but have you ever wondered why? Lanterns have been associated with the festival since the Tang dynasty, possibly because of their traditional symbolization of fertility. All too appropriate for a harvest festival. The lanterns also serve a practical purpose of lighting the way as friends and family stay up to appreciate the full moon late into the night.
Make your Mid-Autumn Festival is all the more fun and meaningful when you have a lantern that you made with your own hands! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to express your creativity with colours and crafts. Using materials such as cellophane paper, parents can bond with their children through this hands-on activity and create their very own traditional Mid-Autumn Festival lanterns. Hands-on activities are fun and important for kid’s early brain development and cognitive growth.
