Calling all history buffs! Check out the special exhibition “A History of the World in 100 objects” at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum this summer. The exhibition is put together in conjunction with the British Museum, and true to the exhibition’s name, 100 fantastic objects from history have been curated from the British Museum’s collections and brought to Hong Kong for your viewing. The exhibition will follow the full narrative of human civilization through a unique lens that reviews common stories of mankind’s development rather than focuses on specific periods and cultural zones.
The timeline of this exhibition is 2 million years before present to now, and through the objects, you will be able to see similarities between different cultural areas: aspirations, power, beliefs, art, trading, and technology. The origins of the 100 objects will range from all over the world, and will include not only art pieces, but items such as currency, science instruments, utensils, and ritual items! Some really awesome pieces to look out for are the first human stone tool from Africa and the iconic Under the Wave Off Kanagawatsunami woodblock print.
Admission for this event is very affordable! Standard adult tickets are HK$10, tickets for individuals within a group of 20 or more are HK$7, and concessionary tickets are HK$5. Get your tickets at the door!
