Located in Kyoto, this beautiful, lakeside Zen temple, has its top two floors covered in gold leaf. It has burned down several times, and rebuilt each time. Surrounding the temple are pretty gardens. There’s a lovely teahouse where you can relax with a cup of matcha, and take in the stunning surroundings. The temple is located a short ride from Kyoto and other attractions.

This temple is a blend of Islamic and Hindu architecture. Lots of marble, animal motifs, and similar works as seen on the Taj Mahal. The top dome is gilded with over 750 kg of gold! Photography is not allowed in the inner sanctum, so make sure you take plenty of the outside. There are many more shrines around the compound which are worth exploring.

This modern temple attracts up to 10,000 visitors a day. People come here to learn more about the teachings; Oneness of God, the Oneness of Religions, and the Oneness of Mankind. This is the most famous temple in Myanmar and its most impressive. Covered in tonnes of gold, it’s a striking vision especially at night. Within the compound are many temples. Intricately designed, and each one different, they tell their own unique story. You can take photos of many of them and you must be covered to enter them. You’ll see people from all nationalities and many monks walking around. It’s located a short walk from the town center.

Affectionately called Tiger's Nest, this is one of the most photographed temples in Bhutan. It sits proudly out of the mountain side and has stood the test of time for centuries. The temple is only accessible by mountain paths and it does take awhile to reach it, so we do recommend this one for fitter families who like to hike.

This is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand. It’s located within the grounds of the Grand Palace in central Bangkok. The temple is beautifully decorated and has a serene, calmness about it. The emerald Buddha sits inside and was carved from a single piece of jade. Situated in Beijing, this temple is a imperial complex of religious buildings. It was built during the early Ming dynasty and has has many buildings added on to it. It is one of the largest religious complexes is the world at 273 hectares. Come here and pray for a good harvest and let the feeling of quiet, serene, warmth take over you.
