Their unique, three-pronged approach brings together the expertise of teachers, specialists, and therapists to work on the specific needs of each student, weaving creative therapies into all classroom activities.
They use an arts-based program that draws on dance, drama, music, and visual arts to teach functional English, Mathematics, and pre-vocational training. It incorporates an independent living skills program that helps to encourage self-help and self-regulation. Each student has individual goals and learning plans set out for them to reach their full potential.
MSIS offers an Australian curriculum framework as a guide and integrates visual and performing arts programs and therapy services to help each child reach their full potential. Students see specialist teachers in art, dance, music, and physical education. These areas of learning are also used in meaningful and directed ways by the classroom teacher to achieve literacy, numeracy, and living skills goals.
