Embracing Artistic Exploration And Creative Learning: New Junior Arts Centre For Tanglin Trust School In Singapore
Innovative Spaces For Dance, Drama, Music And More!
Tanglin Trust School is marking the beginning of its new school year with the official opening of its new Junior Arts Centre. This stunning new addition to the school campus is dedicated to artistic exploration and creative learning and features state-of-the-art spaces, including dance and drama studios, a two-storey library packed with more than 10,000 books, a black box theatre, music rooms, art and design studios, and the dynamic central performance space, J:Hub.
Purpose-built for young learners, this inspiring space will nurture creativity, collaboration, and self-expression for years to come.
As Clair Harrington-Wilcox, Head of the Junior School, explains, “the Junior Arts Centre was born from a simple yet powerful idea: that every child deserves a space to express themselves freely, and creatively. Whether through painting, sculpting, music, dance, theatre, or digital arts, this centre will be a home for exploration and growth.”

THE SCOOP: What To Expect From Tanglin’s Junior Arts Centre?
Music, art, dance, drama, and a wonderful library!
- Music Area: There are four brand new music classrooms and large rehearsal spaces where budding musicians can hone their skills.
- J Hub: A central hub, this is a place for students and teachers to congregate to share ideas. It can also host open mic sessions during playtimes and enjoy informal music, drama, poetry, and reading events.
- Drama & Dance: There’s a Drama studio with a black box theatre and a Dance Studio, fully equipped with a sprung dance floor.
- Art Studio: Expansive, full of natural light, complete with tech that lets specialist art teachers project their work onto the main screen for children to follow along.
- Library: Bright and welcoming with cozy alcoves for reading, the library holds more than 10,000 books. It features a beautiful reading tree, reflecting the natural-inspired design of the new Centre as well as symbolising ‘growth and imagination. The library also features a Story House where children can relax and read, and welcome visiting authors.
- Building Great Athletes: The centre is also home to a Junior Athletic Development gym, where students can develop core strength, balance, and coordination.

The Centre was officially opened on August 20, 2025, by Lena Ching, Deputy Associate Dean for the School of Music at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), before guests enjoyed a tour taking in all the world-class facilities. The tours culminated in a stunning neoclassical ballet performance by professional dancers and NAFA graduates in the brand new Black Box Theatre
