Trials of the new ISS International School Personalized Learning Program have delivered promising results and huge enthusiasm from initial users. Tests will continue in Term Four.
Developed by ISS’ Educational Design Team, the Personalised Learning program has been created based on research from the worlds of education and educational psychology to support each students’ individual learning needs.
The program focuses on how individual students learn and uses various tools and measures for students to self identify strengths and weaknesses. Identified areas for development are discussed with students and parents, priorities are established, and a personalised learning plan to address areas of need is drawn up by students with the help of teachers. Initial trials have demonstrated how this process empowers students to take charge of their own learning journey.
The holistic approaches used to create each student’s bespoke plan addresses subject area development needs, broad-based social and enrichment targets, as well as the skills needed to learn effectively. Resources required to support the outcomes highlighted in the plan are made available to each student, and teachers monitor progress towards the findings in the personalised learning plan at crucial points throughout the school year.
All ISS students, from Kindergarten to Grade 12, will benefit from this learning enhancement tool when launched school-wide in August 2020, ISS International School looks forward to sharing their progress.
