The newly renovated Century Square mall situated at Tampines is bursting with new food places, and one that should be on your radar is Two Hana. Korean cafes are known to have a penchant for eye-catching aesthetics, and Two Hana is no exception. From the calmly-hued walls to the decorative plants, this inviting restaurant provides a welcome respite in the east side of Singapore.
Their Korean-Western fusion fare is also worth shouting about. Instead of conventional K-barbeque or army stew, expect dishes like the Korean Cauliflower Fritters (S$9) – a tangy vegetable dish that delights with every crunch, and is perfect as a starter. Its appearance disguised as fried chicken is also a smart way to “trick” the little ones to eat their vegetables – just don’t tell them what they really are!
If you’re not too hungry, opt for the Braised Gochujang Lamb Shank (S$24). The large portion makes it suitable for sharing among two pax, and is a tasty take on the usual lamb roast with the complementary gravy having a slight kimchi flavor to it. Coupled with fragrantly buttered mash potatoes, this makes for a filling meal that’ll get you your money’s worth.
But what’s a visit to a Korean café without sampling their creative desserts too? If you’re a fan of the Japanese drink Calpis, a smooth yogurt-y beverage, then you’ll enjoy their Melona Calpis Float (S$7). A mixture of Calpis, Sprite and a Melona ice-cream, it’ll help cool you and the little ones off from the blistering Singapore heat!
Good Korean fusion restaurants are hard to come by, but Two Hana hits all the right spots!
All ages looking for some East-meets-West cuisine.
Wi-fi is available here, which means you can squeeze in some work while dining with the kids, and students can also have a study-session during non-peak hours.
