Good news culture vultures, the first contemporary museum in Indonesia has opened in West Jakarta! Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art in Nusantara, or best known as Museum MACAN, is the home of a growing collection of modern and contemporary arts in the country and the world. Currently, the museum displays masterpieces from Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst and Yayoi Kusama, including her Instagram-genic installation “Infinity Mirrored Room”.
Their first exhibition, Art Turns. World Turns, displays 90 artworks from 70 artists from the Museum collection. It presents a narrative that explores the resonances between Indonesia and the world and offers a reading of Indonesian art history in dialogue with global art history. The exhibition will last until March 18, 2018.
You can sure take the kids and let them have fun at the Children’s Art Space. The program here changes with their current exhibitions and provides entry points into artworks on view, specifically aimed at young minds. Currently, little ones can explore Floating Garden, an interactive installation by Entang Wiharso where children can experience art and be visually stimulated through thought-provoking activities.
The first its kind in Indonesia where kids and adults can explore and experience contemporary arts.
Art enthusiasts and family with kids.
A membership plan is available for individual adults, students and families (2 adults, 2 children) that will complement members with daily free admission, 10% discounted entry ticket for one friend, discounts at the Museum Shop, preview exhibitions ahead of the public and invitations to exclusive ‘Society’ events and advance ticket allocation.
