As an international Christian school, Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH) has dedicated almost 30 years in educating and serving families in Indonesia by providing a quality learning experience for every generation. Deeply rooted in its mission to serve the nation and beyond, SPH’s total transformational education is based on True knowledge, Faith in Christ, and Godly Character.
Register today for the open days on September 5-10 and enjoy their special 30th-anniversary offer, only this September!
As parents are searching for the right school for their children, SPH’s annual Open Day event serves as a great opportunity for parents to interact with the school and get to know the community better. The school leaders and Admission Team are ready to accommodate families on this year’s Open Day through personal consultation sessions, so they can find out how SPH can support their child’s learning journey.
Since 1993, SPH was the first school in Indonesia to implement three IB programs: Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP). While the Cambridge curriculum is also applied in several SPH campuses, it's the implementation of the established IB curriculum that puts SPH one step ahead of other international schools.
Dumasi Samosir Wongso, a mother of three SPH Lippo Village alumni, says, "Our three kids really amazed us with their way of thinking, their heart of service, independence, commitment, courage, responsibilities, sense of nationalism, and their willingness to take responsibilities from a young age. We believe this stems from their early education foundation they received from SPH Lippo Village."
The campuses at SPH offer a wide range of programs, which complement students’ day-to-day learning in school. Aside from the prominent after-school activities such as sports, music, visual and digital arts, robotics and engineering, the Applied Science Academy (ASA) forms a part of SPH Center of Excellence, which enables students to conduct scientific research mentored by field experts, university professors, and scientists.
At SPH, students are stretched beyond the superficialities of memorizing syllabuses, says Carys Mihardja, a 2022 alumnus who will continue her studies at Yale University. "We’re encouraged to lift our eyes up from textbook pages to the world unfolding around us, to probe the question: how can we use what we know to help others? It’s easy for any school to teach us students. But to simultaneously instill that deep-seated sense of purpose in our pursuit of knowledge, is what I believe distinguishes the SPH experience from others,”
As a result of learning or Expected Student Outcomes (ESO), SPH hopes its students can have a positive impact on the community and the world at large. SPH creates a set of learning outcomes to better guide students in their journey of growth. The six learning outcomes that characterize SPH alumni are Truth Seekers, Faithful Disciples, Servant Leaders, Confident Communicators, World Changers, and Flourishing Learners.
Grace Liu, alumna and current SPH parent, says, “Over the past 4-5 years in SPH, I've seen my children grow in their social skills, work together as a team, and speak up when something is confusing. I see discipline as a big part of SPH culture. I see biblical character values being introduced to my children. The community, character values, and care of the teachers in the growth of my children are what matters to me in this season."
