Do your kids refuse to sit at the table for dinner? Set the table with some incredibly beautiful plates made by Yuet Tung China Works and rest assure they will stick around!
Their porcelain wares are not just a real treat for diners, but they tell stories of fine craftsmanship and traditional Cantonese painting. Established since 1928, Yuet Tung China Works is the first and also the very last one of its industry remaining in Hong Kong. The factory in Kowloon Bay includes four huge showrooms stacked with piles and piles of tableware and home décor accessories of all shapes and sizes. You can also catch a glimpse of how experienced artists work magic to the ceramics. Stroke by stroke, their wrinkly hands bring to life scenes of natural beauty and traditional ways of life, like children chasing butterflies, clouds floating above majestic landscapes, blooming chrysanthemums and peonies. Each process, from glazing to decorating and firing, is made by hand and all products are unique.
Be prepared to spend hours wandering between shelves looking for your favourites. School and private group tours are available on request as well.
