Hong Kong is striving to create inclusive outdoor playgrounds that welcome children of all abilities, ensuring every child can experience the joy of play together. These specially designed play spaces break down barriers and provide safe, accessible, and engaging environments where children with and without disabilities can play side by side.
The Hong Kong government has committed to transforming over 170 public play spaces, following the success of Tuen Mun Park. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) continues expanding inclusive facilities, with 11 transformation projects already completed and more planned.
We’ve created a comprehensive guide to inclusive playgrounds across Hong Kong, highlighting the best barrier-free facilities and features that make play accessible for everyone. From sensory-rich environments to wheelchair-accessible equipment, these playgrounds demonstrate how thoughtful design can create spaces where all children can participate fully in play.

Tuen Mun Park’s Inclusive Playground is Hong Kong’s first barrier-free play space where children of all abilities can play side by side. The playground is divided into two thoughtfully designed sections. The northern portion—Water Lily Park—features a flower-themed water play plaza, balance-focused zones with trampolines and gentle undulations, and an engaging musical area with large chimes and drums. The southern portion—Reptile Fun—encourages exploration with its sand play tables, climbing towers, sensory play walls, and plenty of tactile, spinning, and swaying equipment. These seven play zones offer a wide range of experiences, making it an exciting, accessible destination for families with children who have mobility, sensory, or cognitive needs.
