Black Sheep Restaurants has unveiled Salon des Refusés, a stunning and very special addition to its lineup that blends culinary artistry with historical inspiration. Named after the iconic 1863 Parisian art exhibition created by Napoleon III to showcase works rejected by the official Salon—featuring revolutionary artists like Manet, Cézanne, and Pissarro—Salon des Refusés embodies the spirit of originality and innovation, this time through food.
Chef Luca Marinelli, formerly of Osteria Marzia, leads this new venture, bringing his expertise and passion to every plate. Each evening, the restaurant celebrates Cuisine du Soleil, featuring the freshest seafood and vibrant produce from the coasts of southern France and northern Italy. Guests enter through a seafoam green door on Bridges Street (right next to Jean-Pierre) and are transported to a coastal escape, where each dish unfolds gracefully.
Whether enjoying an intimate à la carte date night, watching the chefs work at the six-seat bar, or indulging in a curated dining experience at plush candlelit banquettes, every moment is guided by Chef Luca’s hands-on hospitality. The menu is a symphony of flavors, with highlights like Hokkaido uni brioche, bluefin tuna carpaccio, and Adriatic baby squid pasta. Each plate is designed to celebrate the art of simplicity, carefully balancing bold flavors with light, radiant ingredients.
The dining room mirrors the coastal inspiration, with turquoise and blue tones, candlelit mahogany tables, and seaside accents, creating a warm yet refined atmosphere. Paired with a curated wine list of Mediterranean whites, rosés, and lesser-known gems, Salon des Refusés offers a dining experience that is both elegant and approachable, a true celebration of the art of the plate.
Chef Luca’s passion for showcasing raw, radiant bounty and his commitment to creativity make Salon des Refusés a must-visit destination for intimate gatherings and culinary enthusiasts alike.
