Team Little Steps, Stephanie and Sofie, checked into the newly opened Le Petit Prince Kids Club and the freshly renovated wing at Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra for a family getaway in the sun. Set among lush tropical gardens and home to one of the largest swimming pools in Thailand, this resort is designed with families firmly in mind. Here’s how their stay played out, from revamped rooms and creative kids’ programs to easy island-hopping and memorable meals.

Krabi is often described as Phuket’s more laid-back, nature-loving sister, and Sofitel Krabi Phokeethra sits right in the middle of this peaceful coastal stretch on Klong Muang Beach. It’s ideal if you want greenery, sea views, and space for kids to roam.
From Hong Kong, fly into Phuket and continue by road for about two and a half hours, while direct flights from Singapore or Kuala Lumpur take around two and one and a half hours. The resort can organize all transfers, including car seats, which makes arrivals and departures with little ones much smoother.
Wide lawns, coconut trees, and manicured gardens give the resort a relaxed, almost club-like feel. Family-friendly activities pop up all over, including badminton, mini-tennis, and casual lawn games, so you’re never short of something to do between swims.
At low tide, Klong Muang Beach turns into a natural playground with rock pools and shallow water that’s perfect for little explorers. When the tide comes in, the calm sea is great for swimming, paddling, and trying out water sports gear available nearby.
Stephanie and Sofie made a beeline for the new Le Petit Prince Kids Club and Day Camp, and four-year-old Sofie was hooked from the moment she walked through the door. The space feels imaginative and cozy, with plenty for kids to climb, build, and create.
Inside, there’s a colorful ball pit, soft-play climbing structures and slides, a drawing and craft corner, a dress-up zone, plus separate gaming and cinema rooms, all inspired by the whimsical world of Le Petit Prince. It’s also blissfully cool, so it doubles as a calm retreat after time in the big outdoor pool.
The Day Camp Program runs daily from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for children aged 4 to 12, and parents don’t need to stay. Each morning is themed around a different “planet,” with a dedicated team leader guiding the group through sports, crafts, and nature-based activities.
The day starts with free play so kids can warm up and make new friends, then moves into activities like pickleball, golf, or tennis. Sofie’s standout moment was her Thai boxing session, complete with giggles and lots of energy.
Snack time features fresh fruit and light bites to keep everyone going. After that, the program rotates through nature walks, marine conservation activities, rock pool explorations, and beach games, plus team challenges and arts and crafts that spark plenty of holiday friendships.
The camp team is warm and hands-on, and Sofie came back each day beaming and full of stories. For parents, those four kid-free hours feel like gold.
While the little ones are adventuring with their new friends, parents can hit the 9-hole golf course, book a treatment at Spa Sofitel with L’Occitane products, or simply claim a lounger by the lagoon pool or the beach. In the afternoons, extra activities such as tie-dye, cooking classes, and candle making can be booked for an additional fee.
Stephanie and Sofie stayed in one of the newly renovated signature rooms, which comes with a private balcony and ocean or garden views. The design blends elegant colonial details with Thai touches, and Diptyque amenities add a nice bit of indulgence for parents.
Practicalities are well thought out, with double basins and generous bathroom space that make family mornings easier. The balcony quickly became their go-to spot for quiet sunset moments while Sofie wound down from the day.
For families of three or four, these rooms work well, but there are also Family Rooms that cater for two adults and up to three children (11 and under), complete with bunk beds. Extra beds and cots can be requested if you’re traveling with younger kids or need a bit more flexibility.
There’s plenty to keep you on property, but it would be a shame not to explore the nearby islands. The resort’s signature excursions make it easy to get out on the water without overcomplicating logistics, especially with kids in tow.
Hong Island is a highlight and only about 15 minutes away by speedboat from the resort’s beachfront. Expect clear water, towering limestone cliffs, and calm lagoons that are great for swimming and gentle snorkeling with children.
You can also book a private Sofitel Signature Tour, which includes a luxury speedboat, crew, and an organized itinerary to spots like Hong Island and the Krabi Four Islands. Picnic-style lunches, fresh fruit, soft drinks, and snorkel gear are typically included, so you really just show up with your swimsuits and sunscreen.
Stephanie and Sofie loved drifting in a quiet lagoon, sipping ice-cold coconuts, and picking at a colorful spread of snacks set up right on the boat. It’s the kind of moment that feels like the whole trip distilled into a single afternoon.
The resort’s restaurants are designed to keep both adults and kids happy, with enough choice that you never really need to go off-site to find a good meal.
Maya is the main restaurant and the star of the breakfast scene. There’s a generous buffet with live cooking stations, freshly baked pastries, and an impressive lineup of flavored butters that quickly become part of the morning ritual.
Stephanie and Sofie especially loved the croissants made by pastry chef Roldan Zuleta, and the bakery corner stands out for quality and playful daily creations. If you’re an early riser, like Sofie, you’ll also beat the breakfast rush.
Koh Poda Poolside Restaurant & Bar
If you still have room for lunch, head to Koh Poda by the pool. The menu roams from light bites to heartier plates, and there’s a long drinks list for both adults and kids.
Fresh coconut-blended drinks became a poolside staple, and the homemade gelato was a big hit with Sofie. It’s an easy, relaxed option when you don’t want to move far from your sun lounger.
White Lotus & Ristorante Venezia
When evening comes around, there’s no need to leave the resort. White Lotus serves Thai and Indian dishes in a more refined setting, and it’s a favorite for guests craving fragrant curries and local classics after a day in the sun.
The kids’ set menu finishes with mango sticky rice, which quickly became Sofie’s go-to dessert. Parents will appreciate the mix of comfort food and bolder flavors.
Ristorante Venezia focuses on Italian favorites and has a strong local reputation for its pizzas and pastas. The kids’ menu covers all the family staples—think soups, simple pastas, and desserts—while adults can linger over a glass of wine and watch the sky change color over the ocean.
Explorer Bar
If you’re in the mood for an adults-only evening, arrange a babysitter through the resort and slip into Explorer Bar. It has a relaxed, grown-up atmosphere, with creative cocktails and Sofitel Krabi’s own signature gin on the menu.
It’s the perfect spot to reconnect for an hour or two while the kids are happily tucked up in bed.
This resort stands out for the way it weaves storytelling into the stay, from the “Whispers of the Naga” tale created by the Guest Relations team to the dreamy universe of Le Petit Prince brought to life for children. It feels thoughtful rather than gimmicky, which parents will appreciate.
The daily kids’ camp is a real highlight for families with children aged 4 to 12, while younger ones have soft-play corners and gentle activities suited to their pace. With a mix of sports, crafts, spa time for adults, and easy excursions, everyone gets the balance of downtime and adventure they’re craving.
Perfect for: Families who want a relaxed, nature-filled escape with plenty of built-in entertainment for kids and enough grown-up time for a sunset drink or a spa session, thanks to the excellent Kids Camp and babysitting options.
