Looking for a scenic family hike in the heart of Singapore? The MacRitchie TreeTop Walk is a fantastic outdoor escape that combines nature, wildlife, and a healthy dose of adventure. Nestled within the lush MacRitchie Reservoir Park, the highlight here is the TreeTop Walk—a 250-meter-long suspension bridge that sits 25 meters above the forest floor, offering panoramic views of the Central Catchment Nature Reserve and Upper Peirce Reservoir. Kids will love spotting monkeys, squirrels, butterflies, and native birds along the way!
The most family-friendly access point is from Windsor Nature Park (Venus Drive Carpark). This route is slightly shorter and more manageable for younger kids. Follow the signs through the trail past the PUB building, and you’ll reach the TreeTop Walk after about 600 meters. Alternatively, more experienced hikers can start from MacRitchie Reservoir Park’s main carpark (off Lornie Road)—but do note this route is longer and more strenuous.
Whichever route you choose, prepare for a roughly 6 to 7-kilometer round-trip hike. The terrain can be hilly with steep sections, so proper footwear is a must—think sneakers or hiking shoes. Don’t forget the essentials: water bottles, snacks, insect repellent, sunscreen, and maybe a change of clothes for sweaty kiddos. Strollers aren’t suitable here, so little legs should be ready to walk!
There are lots of green plus wildlife exploration along the many accessible trails to get to the TreeTop Walk. We love how the track to the suspension bridge is both easy for little kids as it is a challenge for the older ones. Young or old alike, this is one nature experience not to be missed!
Nature lovers and families who love to spend the day outdoors.
We're sure that the kids will be thrilled at the sights of native creatures of the forest like the Clouded Monitor Lizard, Common Sun Skink, Plantain Squirrel, and of course, the Long-tailed Macaque. There have also been sightings of Wild Boars!
