CIS’s New French-English Bilingual Program
For Bilingual + Biliterate + Bicultural Kids
After their students’ outstanding results proved that their Chinese-English programme is working exactly as they planned, Canadian International School (CIS) have decided to raise their bilingual teaching game further and introduce a new French-English bilingual programme for students in grades 1 and 2 at their Lakeside Campus in August 2018. The programme will be the only one of its kind in Singapore that is fully aligned to the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP).
Key features of the programme include two qualified teachers for each class – one French speaker and one English speaker, inquiry based instruction aligned to the IB PYP and lessons in English one day and French the next. Teachers will also be utilizing authentic materials (storybooks, songs, TV, websites), placing a strong focus on creating experiences where learning mirrors real life activities, and engaging students in active, hands-on activities like acting out plays, cooking and participating in quizzes.

What Else:
To meet the requirements to enrol in the program for Grade 1, les enfants have to be (near) native in French OR English. Grade 2 enrollment requires them to have Stage 2 French and phase 2 English proficiency. Read more here!
