We have often heard from parents that if their kids become any more popular, they might be living in a caravan. It seems as if the kids have a birthday party nearly twice a month and nearly every week nearing any school holiday break. Good news party animals…Little Steps has solutions to avoid the Birthday Bubble. Gift up!
The Wanchai Toy Market was once a main supply centre for the Hong Kong eBayers to source cheap toys to then sell on eBay. One shop, near KFC, sells Star Wars action figures for up to 50% less than in Toys R' Us. In other shops you can buy a bag of Ben 10 Action Figures for HK$99 (albeit not entirely lead-paint free we suspect).

It’s hit or miss but we hear moms have scooped up nearly a year’s worth of brand new boys gifts for HK$5 each at The Salvation Army. Girls' sewing and bead sets have been spotted for HK$10. Stuffed animals are plentiful and a steal. Aside from saving money you are also helping those in need.

There are three great small stores on Peel Street for interesting and inexpensive children’s gifts. On the corner of Peel Street there is a charity shop that is in association with St. James Settlement. They have all sorts of interesting toys.
At #19 Peel Street, just after the Chinese lantern shop, there is a small charity store with their sign in Chinese. In the back of this shop to the left you'll find either junk or a collectible set of Invader Zim action figures that one mom bought for HK$40 and sold on eBay for US$180. We’re not joking! If you are dragging your kid through Soho or are having a "too long lunch with adults" and he or she starts to complain, swing by here for a HK$10 or less "pressie for your patience" and your will laugh all the way home.
A few shops downhill is an anime shop that is very cool. We have bought a lego chess set for HK$300 that sells for over HK$1100 pre-shipping online. We also found vintage Hong Kong Phooey action figures, and you won't find that at Toys Club!
