This September, Hong Kong will host its first-ever International Hot Air Balloon Fest (HABFest) at the Central Harbourfront Event Space from September 4 to 7, 2025. The event will feature vibrant hot air balloon displays, live music, performances, and a variety of food options, offering something for visitors of all ages.
Marvel at Stunning Balloon Displays
While tethered balloon rides have been canceled, HABFest still offers the wonder of hot air balloons with incredible displays from over 15 balloons representing 8 countries, including Canada, the UK, Germany, and Japan. Twice daily—during the morning (7:30am–11:30am) and evening (4:00pm–10:30pm)—these colorful giants, including two 20-meter balloons and exclusive Hong Kong-themed designs like Joey Yung’s candy-inspired balloon and Leo Ku’s Kubi balloon, will create breathtaking photo opportunities. Pro tip: Check the daily schedule on their social media to ensure you catch the balloon inflations (and you’re not waiting around too long) and enjoy the best views!
Meet inflatable pandas “Jia Jia” and “De De” during parades or snap a photo with Ocean Park’s mascot, Whiskers. Thrill-seekers can check out the Stunt Bike Arena, while families can enjoy AR experiences, face painting, and gashapon machines for added fun.
The festival’s food stalls feature a mix of local street food and international options, including Little Bao’s pork belly baos, Taiwanese Guan Miao noodles, and Thai Pai Dong’s mango sticky rice. Bringing snacks is a good idea for picky eaters.
