1/ It started with a Mother’s dream
EtonHouse was inspired by the founder’s experience as a parent in the UK. Her daughter did not enjoy her pre-school experience in Singapore in the 80s when learning was very traditional and dictated by adults. Her experience in the UK was very different. She even wanted to go to school on weekends! The founder became a parent volunteer and discovered that children were learning through play. She started her own school when she couldn’t find something similar in Singapore. Today, her grandchildren are attending the school she started 27 years ago!
2/ A pathway to primary and high school
Propelled by the early EtonHouse parents who wanted their children to continue in the school, EtonHouse went on to build its primary, secondary and high school levels. It now provides high-quality international education to children from 18 months to 18 years, offering the IBPYP, IGCSE, and IB Diploma learning pathway aligned with UK National Curricula. EtonHouse has grown from one to four international schools since 2016 and also started an affordable international school, Middleton, in 2018 which has grown to three campuses.
3/ A pioneer in bilingual education
EtonHouse is a pioneer in bilingual programs in international schools in Singapore, having started the first primary bilingual program in 2011. Since then, many students have developed bilingual proficiency beyond their early years, a skillset and competency that has laid the foundation for their success. Students achieved a 100% pass rate in the 2021 Youth Chinese Test, with 30% of them attaining full marks!
Those who want to develop strong language proficiency can opt for the full Mandarin Immersion Program in Pre-School or the Bilingual Immersion Program in Primary. Students can continue taking Mandarin as a subject for IGCSE and IB Diploma. Besides Mandarin, selected EtonHouse campuses offer Japanese, Hindi, Spanish, and English as an Additional Language program.
4/ Each member of staff knows every child in the school
Parents usually comment on how everyone in school knows their child. Small class sizes mean that teachers forge deep relationships with the students. It is also easier for children to make friends across grades. The strong sense of community in the school provides students with a safe and nurturing learning environment to grow and flourish in their own right.
5/ EtonHouse is an international education group
EtonHouse has grown to become an international education group with 20,000 students in 120 schools across 11 countries. It also operates Middleton International School, which offers high-quality education at an affordable fee of around SG$20,000. Middleton provides families with the IPC, IMYC, Cambridge IGCSE and A-Levels learning pathway at Tampines and Upper Bukit Timah, and soon-to-be-opened West Coast campus.
Driven by open-mindedness, critical thinking skills, and a life-long love for learning, EtonHouse believes that children should take ownership of their education.
