A Tanglin Education: Nurturing Children Beyond The Classroom

An Excellent Early Years Education Awaits At Tanglin!

Tanglin Forest School Hong Kong

Tanglin Trust School was established in 1925 and is the oldest British International school in Southeast Asia. For 97 years, Tanglin has laid the foundations for the development of each child through a nurturing, child-centred approach. Classrooms, facilities, outdoor areas and curriculum are designed to capture children’s imagination and cultivate a lifelong love of learning. This is underpinned by a commitment to support every child’s social, emotional, and cultural awareness.

3 Fast Facts About Tanglin’s Early Years Education

1. Fostering Curiosity
Tanglin was the first school in Asia to be awarded the Curiosity Approach accreditation. In August 2021, this was complemented by the launch of the Tanglin Forest School Programme, an outdoor-based learning model for children from as young as nursery age. Both approaches encourage children to use authentic materials, appreciate the natural environment and use learning spaces as the “third teacher” to support play, exploration and wonder in learning and develop their academic, creative, personal and social skills. There is also a playground with a Mud Kitchen, Water Play Areas and Music Shed for students to get creative.

2. A Holistic Environment
Tanglin’s Infant School curriculum promotes personal, emotional and social development, which focuses on developing children’s self-confidence and self-awareness, forming relationships with peers and teachers and understanding how to manage their feelings and behaviours. In addition, Tanglin believes physical and creative development promote a sense of wellbeing. This may take place in a classroom, sports hall, the swimming pool or at the Forest School activity area.

3. Ensuring excellence and inclusivity for students and the Tanglin community
Tanglin is inspected regularly, following UK Ofsted British Schools Overseas (BSO) standards. Tanglin’s Infant, Junior and Senior Schools have been repeatedly judged “Outstanding”, the highest possible grade. As a not-for-profit school, tuition fees at Tanglin are devoted solely to providing students with an exceptional education. The Tanglin Centenary Building is currently under construction, and will provide new facilities in the next academic year. These include new Infants’ spaces, an aquatics centre with an Olympic-length swimming pool, a 15-metre climbing wall by Walltopia, a 1,300 sqm gymnastics centre, an athletics development gym, and a co-working space for parents who need a place to take calls or catch up on work while waiting for their little ones.

In May 2022, Tanglin’s Infant School and Junior School were both Highly Commended by Which School Advisor for the Best Early Years Programme in an International School and Best Primary School award categories respectively.

Give your child a great start to their education with Tanglin Trust School!
