Luke, Leia, and Darth Vader! Led by Australian conductor Christopher Dragon, let the Singapore Symphony Orchestra take you to a galaxy far, far away with the music of legendary composer John Williams. Williams’ scores for the nine saga films (and a suite for a spin-off film) count among the most widely known and popular contributions to modern film music, and utilize a symphony orchestra and features an assortment of about fifty recurring musical themes to represent characters and other plot elements: one of the largest caches of themes in the history of film music. Long after the 1977 release of the very first Star Wars movie, his compelling music makes its symphonic home in the concert hall. The orchestra is sonically reliving iconic moments from the movie franchise at the Esplanade Concert Hall on December 19 and 20. Star Wars fans know the music of the saga inside and out, so the pressure’s on for the orchestra to replicate it as perfectly as possible. But you can trust SSO with this one. This will be an evening celebrating John Williams’ epic music for the Star Wars films. Lightsabers not included…
