UR-MU Contemporary Art Museum In KL

Located in the prosperous lifestyle district known as the Golden Triangle, the Urban Museum or UR-MU is a one-of-a-kind quirky contemporary art museum in Kuala Lumpur. UR-MU is nestled in the bohemian sector comprising quaint residential streets with low rise 1950’s modernist style architecture. Somewhat forgotten over the years, the neighborhood is finding a new vibe in music, food, entertainment and now the arts.

UR-MU opened its doors in early 2022, quickly become a hotspot for art enthusiasts looking for a creative space to get inspired – or locals wanting to spend a weekend outing away from their usual haunts as it is the first of its kind in the city to house a private, contemporary art collection. The exhibited works at UR-MU reflects the collector. They are regional, eclectic and convey some of the aspirations and moods of the recent era. Works from the collector’s architectural journey form an important part of this collection. UR-MU features artworks across 10 themed gallery spaces, featuring Sens-Asia, People, Kampung Kita, Power Play, Raksasa (Monsters), Superheroes, Framing Modernity, Structure, Made’s Garden and the Sculpture Lounge. A roof-top sculpture garden and a Balinese garden to commemorate the late landscape maestro from Bali Pak Made Wijaya completes the Museum.
